Welcome to Graduate Medical Education at the University of Nevada School of Medicine!

Our mission is to provide an organized educational program with guidance and supervision of the resident, to facilitate the resident's professional and personal development, and to ensure safe and appropriate patient care. We are committed to excellence in both education and medical care.

This newly designed web page is to help you navigate graduate medical education (GME). We have special links for new residents, as well as links to health forms, and most importantly to the resident handbook. The handbook is a very important, dynamic collection of critical information for all resident physicians, resident dentists and fellows. Although you have been given a copy of the handbook for your personal use, easy access and ready availability from any computer should help you address your concerns.

Another important feature of this page is the confidential, non-traceable reporting of duty hours violations. This crucial feature should be used whenever there has been a violation of the duty hours policy.

  • More than 30 consecutive hours in the hospital

  • More than 80 hours averaged over a 4 week period

  • Less than one day in seven off averaged over a 4 week period

  • Less than 10 hours between shifts/clinical activities

I encourage you to make use of this feature as duty hour violations will NOT be tolerated in any of the UNSOM GME programs.

Please become familiar with this site. Bookmark it in your favorites list. Use the site to meet your GME needs.

I am easily accessible to residents and encourage you to contact me with concerns, with feedback or just to sit and chat.

  • My office is on the 5th floor of the 2040 building and has an open door policy.

  • For those of you in Reno, I visit Reno about every 3-4 weeks and can set up appointments to meet with you.

  • I can be reached by phone 702-671-6400 or by email .

Again, welcome to Graduate Medical Education at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
