Beverly Parker, M.D. Program Director
The University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSoM) Internal Medicine program at Reno fosters a close relationship between our attendings and residents. Clinical faculty are accessible at all hours, and no fellows intervene between resident and attending. Our department is dedicated to teaching and patient care.
The UNSoM Internal Medicine Residency Program at Reno is fully accredited by the ACGME. Its most recent accreditation is for 3 years. We emphasize:
Primary care
- Exposure to all internal medicine subspecialties
- Clinical & bench research opportunities
- High faculty-to-resident ratio
American Board of Internal Medicine Pass Rates:
- 100% -- 2007
- 83% -- preceding 3 years
While the program is focused towards general internal medicine, those residents interested in subspecialty training have been quite successful in obtaining competitive fellowship positions. Residents have consistently won awards for their clinical and research presentations at the Nevada Regional ACP conference. Residents have also presented at the national ACP meeting, and at international medical meetings in Europe and Japan.
2007 fellowship acceptances (class size =8):
- Anupa Bhat, Rheumatology, UC Davis
- Bryan Wolf, Rheumatology, University of Virginia Charlottesville
Additional residency program information, tips for applicants, and physician resources can be found at the Fellowship and Residency Electronic Information Database (FREIDA).
