The UNSoM Geriatrics Fellowship is accepting applications for 2 fellowship training positions in our one-year ACGME-accredited clinical geriatrics fellowship with no in-house call duties. This fellowship is suitable for graduating residents in both internal medicine and family medicine.
The program offers advanced training and mentoring in geriatric medicine, with added focus in:
- Clinical trials research
- Hospice
- Palliative care, pain & non pain symptom management
- Rehabilitation
- Home care, transitional levels of care
- QI and patient safety, and medical directorship with an interdisciplinary team experience.
 We foster close faculty and program director mentoring of fellows.
Training sites include the Ioannis Lougaris Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Renown Medical Center, and Circle of Life Hospice.
The American Board of Internal Medicine recognizes all Certificates of Added Qualifications as Internal Medicine subspecialities. Recertification in geriatric medicine (every 10 years) does not require active certification maintenance in general internal medicine.
Board eligibility/certification in internal medicine or family medicine is a prerequisite. As geriatrics is a specialty in need, the fellowship accepts J1 and H1 visa candidates on conditional basis. Contact the program director for more detail. Salary is at the PGY 4 level. Moonlighting is allowed with approval. General duty hours are from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.
