Diversity Month

Each February medical students, with the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs plans month-long activities highlighting diversity in medicine. Sessions include art displays by faculty, students and staff; keynote speakers on medical issues identified by students; movies and discussion sessions, complementary medicine fairs for students to learn about available alternative treatments.

Wilderness Medicine

School of Medicine faculty offer medical students the opportunity for a course in survival techniques and wildnerness medicine. Students learn 'in the backcountry' to apply the skills and knowledge they learn in the classroom. Students who take this course can take advantage of the Reno campus location at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

UNR Campus Recreation Center

Medical students can take advantage of the nearby recreation center on the Reno campus, which includes a state-of-the-art wellness center, climbing wall, racquetball, tennis, basketball courts, weight rooms and more. Go to: UNR Campus Recreation Center
