UNSOM Prospective Applicants: Timeline for Applicants

January - April
Register to take the MCAT the year you plan to apply. August test dates are the latest ones you can take and submit for consideration in year you are applying.
Study for the MCAT exam - take this test prepared to get the best score. DO NOT take this for practice or to "see how you'll do."
May
Begin applying through AMCAS (American College Application Service, www.aamc.org/amcas. UNSOM requires every applicant apply to apply through AMCAS. All applicants must designate UNSOM to receive their complete, verified AMCAS application.
Identify who you want to request to write your letter of recommendation. Students can submit no more than four letters of recommendation.
June 1
Earliest date to submit your application through AMCAS.
September
Secondary Applications begin to be sent to applicants.
October
Medical school admissions interviews begin.
Secondary applications sent out to applicants.
November 1
Last date to submit your application to AMCAS.
January
UNSOM Admissions Committee begins meeting. Admissions process continues through April.
Apply on-line for financial aid using the FAFSA (Federal Application for Financial Student Assistance).
January 15
First round of acceptance notices sent to students. Students have two weeks to reply. February Last dates for admissions interviews at UNSOM.
February 15
Second round of acceptance notices sent to students.
March 15
Third round of acceptance notices sent to students.
April 15
Fourth and final round of acceptance notices sent to students.
June
UNSOM Scholarship Application sent to accepted students.
August
Orientation and Classes begin
