UNSOM Recruitment & Outreach: Science Partners Course
Need help in your classroom to do hands-on Science? Be a Teacher Science Partner! This course is being offered in partnership with the Department of Biology at TMCC, the Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at UNR and the University of Nevada School of Medicine. We believe this course provides a basis for the Community College and the University helping to improve elementary school Science in Reno and Sparks. Teachers Receive:
- Three in-service credits OR a stipend of $125 per semester
- An undergraduate Science major to help you for a maximum of 3 hours per week
- Free Science resources/equipment from the university and medical school
- Contacts with community college, university and medical school faculty
- Funds to purchase science supplies - $200 per semester
Teachers Give
- Oversight, evaluation, and final grade of student performance
- Attend three, one-hour reflection sessions during the semester
- Attend one, 5 hour Saturday workshop
