Melissa Piasecki was a BA-MD student at Washington University in St. Louis where her undergraduate major was French. She found to her happy surprise that she loved teaching as an undergraduate French drill instructor. As a Psychiatry resident at University of Vermont she found that teaching medical students and residents was even more rewarding. In 1995, lured by the opportunity to teach medical students at the University of Nevada, she joined the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine. The latest development in her teaching career is "teaching the teacher" in the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development. In her current role she hopes to maximize the impact faculty have on student and resident learning as well as support faculty career development.
