School of Medicine Class of 2008 to learn residency 'Match' results

Students to celebrate 'Match Day' at Thursday, March 20 event

WHAT:          Fourth-year medical students at the University of Nevada School of Medicine will learn where they will receive their residency training on Thursday, March 20 at 9 a.m. when students in both Reno and Las Vegas will learn the results from the National Resident Matching Program. The National Resident Matching Program is a private, not-for-profit corporation that provides an impartial venue for matching applicants’ and programs’ preferences for each other by reviewing their individualized rank order lists.

                         Media are invited to attend the announcement ceremony.

WHY:             Residency training location is a strong indication of where physicians will set up their practice following completion of residency and has significant implications for the availability of future healthcare professionals in a given area.
