RENO, Nev.— The University of Nevada School of Medicine will host its annual Clinician’s Ceremony on April 4 beginning at 4 p.m. in the Joe Crowley Student Union Ballroom on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. This transitional ceremony for the Class of 2010 marks their move from basic sciences classroom instruction to the clinical years of medical education. The ceremony itself has several important elements including the awarding of Professionalism Awards for outstanding student examples of professionalism from the ranks of the Class of 2010. These awards are special because awardees are nominated by their peers. In addition, six medical residents will be recognized with the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Awards from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. Those awardees include Julian Almeyda-Perez, M.D., internal medicine resident in Las Vegas; Richard Baynosa, M.D., and Parker Fillmore, M.D., surgical residents in Las Vegas; Brion Hill, M.D., and Noah Niufar, M.D., family medicine residents in Reno; and Shawn Rowles, M.D., pediatrics resident in Las Vegas. Finally, 10 students and residents will be inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society which recognizes exceptional medical students, residents and physician-teachers for excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. |
