Hogan boasts an impressive background in research and has published numerous reviews, journals and books.  She has received many professional awards and honors including being named to the Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare in 2006 and being named the International Health Professional of the Year in 2004.  She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics as well as the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.  She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology as well as the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Prior to joining the faculty of West Virginia University School of Medicine, Hogan served as an assistant professor of pediatrics at Northwestern University in Chicago.  Hogan completed her Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at Northwestern University and conducted her pediatric internship and residency training at The Ohio State University.  She received her M.D. at the University of Cincinnati in 1989 and was awarded her bachelor of science degree in chemistry and life science at John Carroll University in 1985.
