School of Medicine adds specialty internists to Reno clinic

Endocrinologist, rheumatologist add to expertise of multispecialty practice

RENO, Nev.— The University of Nevada School of Medicine announces the addition of two specialty internists to its Department of Internal Medicine in Reno. These physicians will teach medical students and practice within University Health System, the clinical practice of the School of Medicine.

           Quang Nguyen, M.D., who specializes in endocrinology and Bahar Sumbul-Yuksel, M.D., a rheumatologist, bring their considerable expertise to the internal medicine clinic located at 1500 East Second Street, Suite 302 in Reno.

           “These two specialty physicians will greatly boost our ability to treat patients with lupus, arthritis and thyroid disease,” said Catherine Goring, M.D., chair of the Reno Department of Internal Medicine.

           Nguyen has a special interest in adrenal disease, hyperhidrosis, thyroid disease and cancer and insulin pump therapy. His clinical and research interests include diabetes and obesity. He graduated medical school from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his residency at University of Nevada School of Medicine and a fellowship at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix.

           Sumbul-Yuksel graduated medical school from Cukurova University in Turkey, followed by residency and a fellowship (rheumatology) at Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York. Her clinical and research interests include rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis and lupus.
