LAS VEGAS/RENO, Nev.— Residents from the University of Nevada School of Medicine will showcase their research prowess when the school holds its annual Resident Research Days in Reno and Las Vegas next week. The Reno session will be on Wednesday, June 3 at 1 p.m. in the foyer of the Pennington Medical Education Building on the north end of the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The Las Vegas event will be held on Friday, June 5 at 2040 West Charleston Blvd., 6th Floor, Conference Rooms E&F, in Las Vegas and will begin at 11:30 a.m. Both events are open to the public and media representatives. Residents from most of the school’s clinical departments in both Reno and Las Vegas will present their research findings to a panel of judges comprised of medical school faculty members and physicians from the offices of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Thirteen presentations will be made in Reno and more than two dozen will be presented in Las Vegas. Prizes will be awarded to residents with the Best Basic Science Study, the Best Clinical Science Study and Best Clinical Case in both the Reno and Las Vegas competitions. All medical residents were encouraged to participate in the school’s annual Resident Research Days which were developed in response to residents who requested a venue for showcasing their non-curricular research work as well as to meet a requirement to demonstrate scholarly activity.
