Physicians join School of Medicine's internal medicine department

Reno-based physicians add to expertise of multispecialty practice

RENO, Nev.— The University of Nevada School of Medicine announces the appointment of two physicians to its Department of Internal Medicine in Reno. These physicians will teach medical students and practice within University Health System, the clinical practice of the School of Medicine.

Evan Klass, M.D., will specialize in endocrinology while Timothy Baker, M.D., will focus on primary care internal medicine.

“These additions to the department will greatly increase our ability to treat adult patients, especially those suffering from endocrinology disorders such as diabetes,” said Catherine Goring, M.D., chair of the internal medicine department in Reno.

Klass, who is board certified in endocrinology, has extensive experience in all aspects of the specialty with particular interest in pituitary disease, thyroid disease and insulin pump therapy for type 1 diabetes. He graduated medical school from New York Medical College, served his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and completed a fellowship in endocrinology at George Washington University Medical Center.

Baker, a primary care internist, returns to Reno following his residency at the University of Chicago where he served as chief resident. He graduated from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 2004.
