Susan Hill appointed director of marketing and communications for University of Nevada School of Medicine, Division of Health Sciences

RENO/LAS  VEGAS, Nev.— Susan Hill, M.A., APR, has been named director of marketing and communications for the University of Nevada School of Medicine and Division of Health Sciences.

In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing external communications, public relations and marketing, encompassing branding initiatives, advertising, social media, special events and publications for the School of Medicine, the Division of Health Sciences and the clinical practices of the School of Medicine. She will serve on the dean’s senior leadership team.

“Susan Hill fills a key role that will contribute in significant ways as to how the School of Medicine and Division of Health Sciences are identified as critical clinical and academic resources for the State of Nevada,” said Thomas L. Schwenk, M.D., dean of the University of Nevada School of Medicine and vice-president of the Division of Health Sciences.

Most recently, Hill was the owner of Susan Hill Public Relations~Marketing, a public relations consultancy that worked with businesses to amplify their brands and messages. Her extensive public relations and marketing background includes roles as public relations and marketing director for Northern Nevada Medical Center, media relations director for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, hotel sales and marketing director, magazine editor and local television news anchor.

Hill holds a master’s degree in mass communications and a bachelor’s in English from Texas Tech University. She is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America and earned the certificate in social media marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno. She previously served as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Nevada Reynolds School of Journalism. Hill has received PRSA’s Hall of Fame Award and Gold Spike Award for community service.
