The Nevada Cancer Institute and University of Nevada School of Medicine are proud to announce the opening of the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program. Interviewing will commence immediately to fill the first class of three fellows for the 2010-2011 academic year. Candidates must submit a personal statement, medical school transcripts, copies of USMLE scores and the names of three individuals qualified to write letters of recommendation on their behalf to be considered for the fellowship. A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s residency Program Director is also required.

The program offers advanced training and mentoring in oncology, with added focus in:
- Inpatient Experience – University Medical Center
The inpatient component is a combination of inpatient management service and consultation service. In conjunction with an attending physician, the fellow will actively participate in the care of inpatients, ranging from disease diagnosis to clinical management, including the administration of antineoplastic treatments.
- Outpatient Experience – University Medical Center and Nevada Cancer Institute
Fellows will gain clinical experience in the University Medical Center (UMC) and Nevada Cancer Institute outpatient oncology clinic.
- Continuity Clinic – University Medical Center and Nevada Cancer Institute
- Research – Nevada Cancer Institute
- Faculty Roles and Responsibilities – We foster close faculty and program director mentoring of fellows.
Meet The Faculty of NVCI
Faculty members are subspecialty certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Medical Oncology. In addition, faculty members who have obtained training and experience in infectious disease, pulmonary disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology and hematology are available to participate in the education of fellows in oncology. The program also has the support of other clinical specialties including psychiatry, gynecology, nuclear medicine, pathology, neurology, neurosurgery, radiation therapy and surgery.
- Training sites include the Nevada Cancer Institute and University Medical Center.
