THE MIKE O'CALLAGHAN FEDERAL HOSPITAL ANESTHESIOLOGY ROTATION
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Understand patient evaluation, induction, maintenance and reversal of anesthesia procedures.
Discuss and demonstrate airway management in the conscious and unconscious patient.
Assist and perform general, local and regional anesthesia techniques as directed by the attending anesthesiology staff. The resident is expected to gain experience endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway during this rotation. The resident will perform a minimum of 5 endotracheal intubations.
Describe medical risk assessment for surgical patients.
Describe post-operative care for the surgical patients.
Use proper hospital protocol when treating and managing patients in a hospital environment.
Understand the common pharmacologic agents used in general anesthesia procedures.
Display a professional demeanor and positive attitude during the rotation.
Interact appropriately with all operating room personnel.
