MEET OUR RESIDENTS
Chief Residents
Deepa K Mocherla
Deepa was born in Andhra Pradesh, India but grew up in Cupertino, California. She graduated from Sri Siddhartha Medical College, India, in 2003.
Due to her interest in academia, she decided to gain more
experience
by doing a chief year after her graduation.
She has a special interest in Oncology and is
pursuing a fellowship.
In addition to Medicine, art and travelling are her passions.
Hesham E Mohamed
Originally from Libya, Hesham graduated from Al Fateh University. After graduating, his interests in Pulmonary - Critical Care and in Academic Medicine lead him to chief residency.
He enjoys reading and playing soccer.
Roja Rani Mulamalla
Roja is from Hyderabad, India. She graduated from Kakatiya Medical School in 2004.
She likes to provide excellent patient care and has a passion for Cardiology.
After her graduation, she is doing a chief residency while applying for a Cardiology fellowship
When she is off she enjoys singing and watching movies with her husband and her son.
PGY3 Class
Prashant Bharucha
Born in Valsad, Gujarat, India. Graduated in Maharaja Sayajiro University, Baroda in 2003. Prashant after graduating has done two years of residency in General Surgery in India. After residency he wants to work as a hospitalist in Southern California.
His hobbies are watching movies, spending time with his family, cooking and traveling.
Fanny Chan
Born in Myanmar (former Burma), Fanny graduated from the Institute of Medicine (I) of Yangon (Rangoon) in 2003. She wants to excel in the Internal Medicine field and is interested in Hemato-Oncology.
Hiking, cooking and listening to good music are her favorite hobbies.
Jimmy Diep
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii but raised here in Las Vegas, Jimmy attended the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine, graduating in 2006. He wants to make a difference in people’s lives and that’s one of the reasons he will be strating his Cardiology Fellowship after he completes his three years of the IM residency. “Wake up everyday and love what I do” is his motto.
He uses his days off to spend time with his family, to play racquetball or shooting pool.
Samar Hafida
Samar was born in Tripoli, Libya. She graduated from Al Fateh University in 2002 and moved later on to the United States with the dream to continue her education in the medical field. She would love to apply for a Cardiology Fellowship when she completes her residency.
She enjoys travelling, cooking, drawing or simply tasting a piece of cheese. Samar likes to play with her daughter and soon she and her husband will welcome a new baby into the family!
Praveen Jayakumar
Praveen is from Kottayam, Kerala in India. Before coming into our Residency Program he worked in a Wisconsin Hospital as an administrator. He would like to be an effective leader in the field of medical management, but at the same time he wants to be a competent teacher and physician who remains a positive influence to his patients and colleagues.
He likes debating with his friends and enjoys playing soccer and basketball.
Sathish Karmegam
Nilakkottai, India is Sathish’s hometown. He graduated from Stanley Medical College, India, in 2004. He works hard to achieve his goal of becoming a good Physician and a compassionate doctor.
Photography is his favorite hobby, but he also enjoys reading good Science Fiction books and travelling (he has visited every continent, but Antarctica).
Aida Loudyi
Aida was born in Casablanca, Morocco and graduated from Hassan II University, Casablanca, in 2002. Her professional goals are focused in improving the quality of patient’s life and palliative medicine.
She loves horses and on her days off she enjoys biking, hiking, cooking, listening to music and playing with her two kids.
Aswathnarayan Raghavendra Manandhi
Aswathnarayan, a.k.a. Raghu, was born in Chintamani, India and graduated in 2002 from Kempegowda School of Medical Sciences. He is interested in Hemato- Oncology and enjoys playing ping pong, shopping and cooking traditional Indian recipes. Raghu is also a dedicated numismatic.
Ahmad Noman
Ahmad was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. He attended the Damascus University,
Faculty of Medicine, where he graduated from in 2005. He would like to become not only a good Physician but and excellent researcher.
He loves going to the movie theater, travelling, hiking and playing soccer.
Teena Tandon
Originally from Chandigarh, India she graduated from the Government Medical College, Chandigarh in 2004. Her goals are to become a good internist and to pursue a fellowship.
She enjoys reading, listening to music and watching good movies.
Roxana Naomi Tejada- Jitsuya
She is a Japanese descendant but was born in Lima, Peru. Naomi graduated from the Universidad San Martin de Porres in 2004 and plans to work in the Allergy and Immunology field after she finishes her residency.
Listening to music, cycling and painting are her hobbies.
Srinivasan Venkatesan
Srini’s hometown is Salem, India. He graduated from the Government Mohankumaramangalam Medical College in 2000. He practiced for several years in the United Kingdom before joining our residency program.
He wants to become a Critical Care physician and to have a successful practice. His hobbies include watching movies, playing cricket, listening to music and photography.
Jefferson Chua Yu
Born in Manila, Philippines. Jeff graduated from University of the East in 2002.
He wants to do hospital and outpatient medicine now, preferably in an academic setting. Wants to pursue fellowship in future.
His Hobbies are new technology, motor sports, precision shooting, Billiards/pool, food and most of all playing with his one year old son.
PGY2 Class
Ali Haitham Abdul Jabbar
Ali was born in Baghdad, Iraq and he obtained his MB, ChB degrees from the University of Baghdad in 2005. He has lived in Iraq and Dubai most of his life.
One of the reasons to choose our program was because he wanted a broad clinical exposure to a variety of different cases. He likes to manage patients not only in the acute subset but in the outpatient setting. His ultimate goal is to apply for a fellowship in the Cardiology field after his Residency.
On his days off, you can find him playing soccer, ping pong or swimming. He enjoys learning foreign languages and traveling.
Aisha Ahmed
Aisha was born in Karachi, Pakistan and graduated from Karachi Medical and Dental College with an MBBS degree in 2004.
She enjoys reading and travelling and would like to enroll in a Rheumatology Fellowship Programs after she finishes her residency.
Parkash Ashoke Bakthiani
Parkash was born in Shikarpur, Pakistan and he obtained his MBBS degree after he graduated from Chandka Medical College in 2003. He identifies himself as a Floridan since he lived in Miami for a while. He loves to watch tennis, soccer and cricket. He also enjoys listening to music (especially Indian pop).
After finishing the residency he would like to pursue new horizons in the Endocrinology field.
Liying Cai
Liying is from Beijing, China. She graduated from Peking University, Health Science Center in 2002. While doing an externship at the University of Indiana she obtained her PhD degree having worked in the Physiology field (Cardiovascular Sciences).
She wants to become a good physician with good research abilities. In her free time she studies Confucianism and enjoys her favorite hobby, photography.
Nicole Lee Davey- Ranasinghe
Nicole is a 100% local product! She was born in Las Vegas and lives in Henderson, Nevada. Nicole graduated from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine in 2008. Her goal is to serve our community to the best of her abilities, working in the primary care setting.
On her days off she bakes, hikes and spends most of the time playing with her daughter Julia.
Haitham Ali Elconsul
Haitham is a categorical resident. Originally from Zawia, Libya, he graduated from Al Fateh University School of Medicine (Tripoli) in 2000. He is very interested in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
He enjoys reading, playing soccer and surfing the internet on his days off.
Husameddin Mokhtar Elmesallati
Husameddin is originally from Tripoli, Libya. On April, 2003 he graduated from the University of Al Fateh in his hometown. Getting the highest level of medical education is a goal he wants to accomplish.
Soccer and table tennis are his favorite hobbies.
Shamoona Ahmed- Fawaz
Shamoona is originally from Pakistan where she attended medical school. She obtained her MBBS degree from Baqai Medical University in 2005. She considers Aliso Viejo in California her hometown. After finishing the three years of residency she would like to pursue further medical education in the Hemato-Oncology field.
She enjoys reading, running but above all - sleeping on her days off!
Badri Narayana Garlapati
Andhra Pradesh, India is Badri’s hometown. He graduated from Osmania Medical College in 2002. He worked in a Liver Diseases Unit in the United Kingdom before starting his residency. His goal in the medical field is to enroll in an Endocrinology Fellowship Program after he finishes the IM residency.
On his days off he spends time in from of the TV watching sport channels or enjoying a good movie. He plays basketball and table tennis.
Pichet Iampornpipopchai
Pichet was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated from Phramongkutklao College of Medicine in 2004. After residency, he would like to pursue a career in the Nephrology field. He is happily married and enjoys watching movies and eating out with his wife.
Nischala Nannapaneni
Nischala is originally from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, India. She obtained her MBBS degree from Guntur Medical College in 2007. Her goals in the medical field are, in her own words: “Work in pursuit of excellence (…), to be a good teacher and a master clinician”.
On her spare time she enjoys painting, reading or swimming.
Roberto B Quintos
Born in Manila, Philippines. Graduated from Far Eastern University in 2004.
He wants to be a Primary care Physician.
His hobbies are to spend time with his family, biking and tennis.
Nirmal Teja Sunkara
Nirmal is from Guntur, India and he graduated from Guntur Medical College in 2007. His goal is to join a Cardiology Fellowship after he finishes the IM residency training. His motto: “Save a heart: Save a Life”
On his days off he swims, plays tennis or chess. He enjoys watching movies at home and his preferred ones are the old dramas or the ones with action and humor.
Jingyin Yan
Originally from Shanghai (China), Jane graduated from Shanghai Second Medical University in 2002. She moved to Texas where she obtained her PhD. She is a categorical resident in our program.
She enjoys jogging and cooking.

Jitendra Adepu
Born in Mancherial, India. Graduated in Kakatiya Medical College 2005
Jithendra aspires to pursue fellowship in Cardiology.
His hobbies are playing Soccer, cricket, music and movies.
Amar Amin
Born in Cerriles, CA and graduated from University of Southern California in 2009.
He is our preliminary resident who is going to Radiology.
He is a big Lakers fan.
Aisha Chohan
Born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Aisha graduated from Punjab Medical College in 2005. She wants to rotate through different services before deciding on her future plans.
Her Hobbies are Baking, hiking and watching sit-coms.
Lisa Choi
Born in Cypres,CA. Graduated in Tufts University school of Medicine in 2009.
Lisa is a preliminary resident going into Anesthesia. She wants to start her Anesthesia as soon as possible.
Subodh Devabhaktuni
Born in Hyderabad, India. Graduated in Guntur Medical College in 2007.
Subodh wants to excel in the field of his interest which is Cardiology.
His hobbies are watching cricket, movies, work out in Gym and spending time with friends.
Naveen Gopal
Born in Mandya, India and graduated from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in 2008. His goals are to provide excellent care for his patients in a optimal way.
His motto is “ Be the best at what you do”
His hobbies are water sports and exploration.
Reza Vaghefi Housseini
Born in Tehran, Iran. Graduated in Shahid Beheshti School of Medicine in 2005.
Reza enjoys working as an academic Internist in the future. Among fellowships his favorite is Nephrology.
His hobbies are playing tennis, hiking every 1-2 weeks, listening to his favorite music and watching new movies.
Mahendran Jayaraj
Born in Aruppukottai, Madurai, India. Graduated in Stanley Medical College, Tamil Nadu, India. He wishes to do fellowship in Gastroenterology or Hematology-Oncology and establish a center of excellence in my home country.
Kanchan Kanel
Kanchan is from Nepal and graduated from XIAN Medical University in 2004. Her main goal is to become a good internist and provide excellent patient care.
During her free time, she likes to watch movies and she likes to travel.
Nisharahmed Kherada
Born in Baroda, Gujarat, India. Graduated from B.J.Medical School (Ahmedabad, India) in 2005. He aspires to become a Cardiologist.
His hobbies are to watch movies, explore places where he can have good food, spend quality time with family.
Ranjit Makar
Ranjit is form New Delhi, India and graduated from IMTU (Dar es Salaam) in 2005. He would like to pursue a fellowship in Gastroenterology. He strives for excellence in medical education for the betterment of patient care.
His hobbies are travelling and trekking.
Deepak Nandikanti
Deepak is from Hyderabad, India and graduated from Osmania Medical College in 2007. His goals are to be an efficient, successful and outstanding physician. He wants to excel as a resident and would like to pursue a fellowship in Cardiology. His moto is "Work harder than others, know more than other and expect less than others."
He other interests are music, hiking, travelling, watching Soccer and playing Circket.
Bryan Paul Noorda
Bryan is from Las Vegas and is a graduate of University of Nevada School of medicine in 2009. He is doing his preliminary year and preparing for a bright future in Aneshesiology. His hobbies include music composition, web design and astronomy.
Kerri Robbins
Born in Mesquite, NV. Graduated from University of Nevada School of medicine in 2009.
She is doing her preliminary year, strengthening her medical skills to excel in her true passion, Dermatology.
Her hobbies are Dancing, hiking, camping, reading, travelling and family and friends.
Shivanand Bomman Shivashanker
Born in Bangalore, India. Graduated from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in 2007. Shivanand goals in future are yet to be set. His Hobbies are Sports, Movies and Reading
Srinath Sundararajan
Born in Chennai, India. Srinath graduated from Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai in 2007. Srinath has a person goal of excelling in medicine and will be applying for a fellowship in Oncology and Palliative care medicine.
His Hobbies are music & movies.
Brenda Lopez Tintos
Brenda is from Guadalajara, Mexico and graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 2003. Her goal is to practice Dermatology in an academic setting. She thrives to be an effective clinical professor, investigator and develop programs to deliver dermatologic care to underserved areas.
Her Hobbies include Jazz, piano, jogging, spending time wiht friends, ejoying fine cuisine and wine. She also followes car racing and likes to learn new things everyday.

Sheryl Anne Yu
Born in Ohio and grew up in the Philippines. Graduated from University of the East, Philippines in 2003. Sheryl’s aspires to do outpatient general medicine.
Her hobbies are traveling, playing with her son, family and movies.
