All certified nurse midwives (CNMs) are nationally certified and licensed in the state of Nevada to provide women’s healthcare as advanced practice nurses under the supervision of the physicians in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
CNMs are able to provide annual health screenings, primary care of essentially normal women, contraceptive/hormonal management, evaluation and management of sexually transmitted diseases, prenatal care and vaginal delivery of essentially normal pregnancies at the University Medical Center.
Certified nurse midwives believe in patient education and empowering women to obtain and maintain their optimum health.
