Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Student Clerkship Syllabus 2009 [PDF 1.2MB updated on July 10, 2009]

Medical students rotate in groups of six to eight per six-week rotation.

They spend time on labor and delivery learning antepartum and post-partum care and are actively involved with vaginal deliveries and cesarean operations. A portion of their time is spent in the gynecologic operating room assisting with surgeries.

The pre-op and post-op management of these patients is performed under resident guidance.

Another aspect is in the outpatient facility where they participate in the daily care of prenatal and gynecologic patients. The students have specified didact sessions with resident and attending faculty. They also attend the resident didactic conferences including GYN, M&M and perinatal conferences.
