LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas is the largest city in the fastest growing state in the nation. With over 1.5 million residents and more than 30 million visitors to the city each year, Las Vegas is renowned as an entertainment capital and convention destination for many national and international organizations.

Famous for its glittering nightlife, Las Vegas also offers theatre, music and dance companies, including the nationally recognized Nevada Dance Theatre. Several museums (including a children's museum), art galleries and libraries contribute to cultural opportunities in Las Vegas. Also, the world famous downtown Las Vegas has undergone a lavish redevelopment project called the "Fremont Street Experience" to beautify the historic district.

The Clark County School District is currently ranked eleventh largest in the United States with more than 184 schools, and has implemented a wide range of programs in order to meet its students' needs. Higher education is provided by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Clark County Community College; and Desert Research Institute.

Las Vegas offers many varieties of outdoor recreation, from skiing and hunting to fishing and boating at nearby points of interest such as Mount Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, and Hoover Dam. In addition numerous national and state parks are just a short drive from Las Vegas. Low humidity and 310 days of sunshine per year create an ideal outdoor environment.

Sports enthusiasts can cheer for a variety of teams including the Las Vegas 51's, the AAA Los Angeles Dodgers farm team; the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League; the Las Vegas Wranglers hockey team of the ECHL; and intercollegiate football, basketball, baseball and track at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In addition, the Pro Rodeo Circuit calls Las Vegas home for its National Finals Rodeo held here each December.
