Personal

Dr Catherine McCarthy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1969.  She moved to San Francisco in 1986 to attend college at San Francisco State University.  While attending SF State she was employed as a bartender and manager of a San Francisco nightclub, The Last Day Saloon.  For medical school Dr McCarthy relocated to the lush island of Grenada and then St Vincent and the Grenadines, where she became interested in sailing.  She completed her clinical years of medical school in London, California and Guyana.  During residency at University of Nevada, Reno she developed an interest in obstetrics and emergency medicine.  She now enjoys her time away from medicine sailing in Lake Tahoe in the summer and skiing in the winter.
