Richard Williams, MD

Educational Record:

Undergraduate: Angelo State University, San Angelo, TX; BS 1995

Medical: Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, Lubbock, TX; MD 1999

Residency: University of Nevada School of Medicine, Family Medicine Residency Program, Reno, NV; 1999-2002.

Professional Experience:

Dr. Williams joined the faculty of the UNSOM Family Medicine Residency Program, Reno in 2002. He became the Residency Program Director in the summer of 2004. He is also the chief of the Department of Family Medicine at Renown Regional Medical Center, our main teaching hospital. Dr. Williams is an active member of the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He completed the National Institute for Program Director Development Fellowship in 2005.

Personal:

After being born in upstate New York, Dr. Williams moved to Texas shortly thereafter. He grew up in Odessa, TX and opened his eyes to the beauty of Nevada, after a few trips to Lake Tahoe, moving here in 1999. He is married to Tammy and they have a son, Hayden, born in August of 2005. Hobbies include woodworking, snow skiing, and smoking pork ribs.
